As much as I didn't want to be induced, we decided that if he hadn't come by the 14th that I would need to be. My parents had arrived on the 7th and Hudson still had not arrived a week later, although I was dilated to a 2 and was 70 percent effaced for almost 3 weeks. His due date was the 17th and my parents were scheduled to fly out on the 19th. I needed them there. I wanted my mom there for the delivery and Jack needed them there with him.
So, at 6 AM on Thursday the 14th, Ted and I went into the hospital. They broke my water at about 7:30-8 AM. And that is pretty much all it took. Here in Virginia you can have an epidural pretty much as soon as you want it. Not like in Idaho where you have to be dilated to a 4.
Around 12:30, they said I was fully dilated. My mom hurried over and at 1:30 PM, Hudson was here.
This time around was completely different than with Jack. I was actually coherent for the full delivery.
Ted always teases me that rather than the baby blues, I am instantly happier the moment the baby comes out. It is true. I love not being pregnant, but more importantly, I love having Hudson here with us.
