Goals

I used to be really good at writing in my journal. Since the time I was young, I would write almost daily. It is sad to say that when I got married, the times I would write anything down became more and more sparse. I used to write down everything. In fact, Ted had no idea how early on in our relationship I fell in love with him until we were reading in my journal a couple of months after we were married.
This year, as I have been teaching the Laurels from the new curriculum, they emphasize setting goals, and finishing them. I have always been one that if a goal is set, it must be finished. Sometimes, I purposely won't say those words because then I have to follow through. For example, some days I feel like I am eating too much sugar, so, I will say to myself, I cannot have any more for the rest of that day. As soon as those words or thoughts come out, I instantly am more driven to complete the task then before. This is why I love checklists. It makes me feel obligated to finish something if it is written down, plus I love to cross the items off. (Sometimes I will add things to my list that I have already accomplished just so I can cross them off.)
So, this year, my goal is to get back into writing down my thoughts and feelings. I know it is a little late for new year resolutions, but I believe anytime is a good time to improve yourself. You don't need to wait until the next year, or the next week, or even the next day. Start now.
